This work uses video documentation to explore cairns as cross-cultural memory and spatial navigation symbols. By inscribing the word “COMA” in various languages spoken along the Danube River onto stones, stacking them on the riverbank in Linz, and allowing them to sink into the water, the piece reflects on European historical trauma and the fluidity of language. The submersion of the stones symbolizes the disappearance of language, while the flowing river marks the migration and translation of memory. Through this process, the work establishes a relationship between text, material, and water, presenting a narrative experiment on history, consciousness, and displacement.
