Zako is a work that merges poetic and philosophical approaches through video and writing. It explores the interplay between life and its environment, presenting the fluid relationships among urban spaces, bodies of water, and living beings. Starting from the perspective of a fish, the work challenges the human-centric understanding of sensory perception. The initially monochromatic imagery, limited in color, shifts to neon at a certain moment, with the visuals themselves becoming an integral part of the poetry.
Moreover, the fish tank in Zako, as a metaphor for a closed ecosystem, reflects the self-replication and self-destruction inherent in cities and life itself. This aligns with the themes of “fluid boundaries” and “spill into often mispronounced and unwieldy territories” highlighted in the poetic video screening. Experimentally, I try to blur the lines between poetry and imagery, narrative and abstraction, expanding the expressive boundaries of both art forms.
